Dubois Main Street hosted a celebration of the National Day of the Cowboy on Saturday, July 25th.
Businesses were asked to have their employees dress up in Western attire and prizes were given tho those who showed the most spirit.
Judging by Les and Locke Hamilton of Prickly Pair and Chris Mevisson of the Dubois Frontier began at "high noon" and awards were presented in the Corner Park.
The Best dressed Cowboy Award went to Gary Keimig of Silver Sage Gallery for painting while sitting in a saddle wearing woolly chaps, spurs, cowboy boots and cowboy hat. Runners up were Chuck Nagel of Saddle Tramps and Monte Baker of Horse Creek Gallery.
Julie Elliott of Two Ocean Books won the Best Dressed Cowgirl Award and runner up was Channing Kimball of Sundance Cafe. Naomi Johnson of the Backyard Floral Design won for the youth division.
Each winner was presented with a gift certificate to a local watering hole or soda fountain for the youth division.
The store or restaurant that best captured the spirit of western culture was a tie between Saddle Tramps and Sundance Cafe. Each of the businesses received an official National Day of the Cowboy flag. Runners up were Silver Sage Gallery and Stewart's Trapline Gallery.
The Dubois Western Heritage Award was presented to Sandie and Rodger Leseberg for their dedication, volunteer spirit, passion for team roping and rodeo, and their love and commitment to the community of Dubois. The Lesebergs received a Montana Silversmith sculpture and dinner for two at Lorenzo's.
