The CM Ranch is a dude ranch with a fine reputation that has specialized in family vacations since 1927.  The CM offers a variety of outdoor adventures, including horseback riding, fishing, hiking, pack trips, weekly rodeo, cookouts, and more.  Located in a secluded valley in the Wind River Mountain Range, the ranch’s proximity to Yellowstone Park and Jackson Hole, Wyoming make it an ideal destination ranch vacation.  The expansive ranch lands are contiguous with the Shoshone National Forest and Fitzpatrick Wilderness, which allow for almost endless private riding and fishing in country of great variety and beauty. The CM is not just a group of buildings set up for summer use, but a welcoming home, with atmosphere and charm.

During the day you can ride, fish, hike, swim, picnic, participate in activities, or relax with your book, as you please. Evenings can be spent with others at square dances or cookouts, playing softball, horseshoes or volleyball on the lawn, or ping pong and card games. Each week there is a slide show by a visiting photographer, and an evening of cowboy poetry and music. Perhaps you would like to join friends on a cabin porch for conversation and star-gazing. And there is always the quiet seclusion of your cabin, to enjoy.

The ranch was established in 1927 by Charles Moore, the son of a trader who lived on the Shoshone Indian reservation.   The CM was sold to Leslie and Alice Shoemaker in 1952.  In 1967 the ranch became a corporation, and Erroll Petersen joined the partnership.  He and his wife Lisa managed the ranch through 1997 with their partner Barbara Shoemaker.

The ranch was purchased by the Kemmerer family in 1997.  Jay Kemmerer and his sisters Betty and Connie frequently visited the CM as children, and are committed to maintaining the historic traditions which inspire visitors to return year after year.   Like the Kemmerers, generations of families have created many treasured memories by choosing the CM for their vacations.

The Kemmerers and their managers, Mike and Kass Harrell, look forward to sharing the beautiful countryside and unique lifestyle with their guests.
